Men's A team played at home today vs curracloe the bunclody men came out on top in what was a very tough game. The first half started and to be fair the first 10 mins saw curracloe on top. A tactical switch by bunclody saw Pj Mulhall swap positions with Joe finn the change proved successful soon after when a neat passing triangle involving Cian cowman, Pj and Joe saw PJ release Johnny Melay down the inside right chanel Johnny took the ball in his stride advanced into the area and slotted the ball passed the on rushing keeper for 1-0 to the home team. Bunclody were good for there lead but it was clear Curracloe weren't going to lie down and they produced a fine reflex save from Jap in the bunclody goal. Halftime seen the score stay at 1-0 to the home team. Shortly into the second half bunclody lost there keeper to a calf injury, but it allowed Alex O'Callaghan too come in for his senior men's debut at 16 yrs of age. Alex as usual never let the occasion get to him and he made 2 fine saves in the second half. Curracloe sensed an opportunity and went hell for leather but the back 4 stood strong until after another corner disaster struck with curracloe sweeping the ball home after a possible handball. Years ago that would of rocked this bunclody team but they have a new found inner believe this year. Stevo Ryan who had come on too replace the young Joe restores bunclody lead with a great pass from John Mac Stevo raced on to the ball and swept it past the keeper. It was tough going for the final 10 mins but everyone stood up and were counted as Curracloe through the kitchen sink at us. Non more so then captain Andrew kelly who made a last ditch tackle in the box to save a certain goal. A great 3 pts earned and just want to mention how great it is to see 2 16 yrs old lads making their contributions felt in a very tough battle.
