On a very warm humid day it was the first outing for our Second team against local rivals Ferns. Bunclody took the lead through an excellent bit of play worked down the right handsome by Conor Thorpe and when the ball was worked across it was finished by Jack Finn with his twin brother Joe getting the assist. Bunclody lead lasted until after the water break when a free from about 25 yards out was conceded. Ex Wexford Youths player Robert Vickers stepped up to take the free and was struck excellently. Bunclody keeper Bobby McKeown got a touch on it but unfortunately for Bunclody couldn't keep it out. 1-1 game on. The water break seemed to have killed the Bunclody momentum slightly as for the first 20 minutes Bunclody were the better team and controlled almost every aspect but Ferns got back into the game leading up to half time and you could see the game was going to be a tight fought affair.

At half time Bunclody made some changes bringing John Brennan into the mid field along with John McCormack. Ferns were up for it in the second half and got in Bunclody face with every touch they had on it. Bunclody found it hard to do what they done so well in the first half keeping the ball and playing around ferns. A dangerous Bunclody attack was broken down by ferns and the ball over the top had Bunclody in trouble. A tangle of legs in thew box lead to a Ferns Penalty, which in turn was scored Ferns 2-1 up.

Then came the Waterbreak this one worked to Bunclody advantage as they seemed to get the heads back and started to control the play again, a promising Bunclody attack lead to a good save and a corner kick. The corner was swung in and a breaking ball on the back post was swept in by Joe Finn. 2-2 Bunclody are back in it. This seemed to revive Bunclody again and they went searching for the winner. A contentious free was given to Ferns despite what looked like a brilliant tackle, up stepped Robert Vickers again to stick it in the back of the Bunclody net. The lads never lost faith despite the goal and continued the search for the winner. A good bout of possession ended up at the feet of young John McCormack who was urged to have a shot and he didn't have to be asked twice. A great strike beat Ferns keeper Nathan Curran and the match was level for the third time. We continued knocking on the Ferns door to see if there was a way to get the full three points and one final chance was saved excellently by the Ferns keeper to deny the home side the points.

The game finished 3-3 with an excellent display from the home side.
